About Ryan
Ryan T. Higgins is an award winning author, whose recent work, We Don’t Eat Our Classmates!, was featured as a New York Times Best Seller in 2018. Ryan sites his early interests in comic books and cartoons as a major influence in him becoming a children’s book author. In addition to writing, Ryan is also a frequent classroom guest speaker, where he reads some of his popular works and shares some of his digital artwork.
Although still relatively new to the scene (his first major work, Wilfred, was published in 2013), Ryan has already racked up a ton of awards and honors, including an E.B. White Award and Ezra Jack Keats Honor.
Why We Recommend
It is very easy to see Ryan’s early comic book influences as his works often feature the combination of fun, comedic story-lines with detailed illustration that make them ideal for elementary age children. His work, Mother Bruce, is a common favorite in many classrooms.
