About I’m a Frog:
Award-winning author Mo Willems brings us his twentieth installment of his popular Elephant & Piggie series, I’m a Frog. Like Willems other works in the series, I’m a Frog features the lovable characters Gerald and Piggie as they have their normal, witty back-and-forth dialogue via comic-book style illustration.

When Piggie starts ribbiting like a frog, poor Gerald becomes very confused. How is it possible that Piggie was once a pig, but now is a frog? In the most comedic way possible, Gerald learns all about the world of pretend and begins to make sense of his friends new identity.

Why We Recommend It
I’m a Frog is a great addition to Willems‘ popular Elephant & Piggie series and matches the comic-book style of his previous works. Willems’ stories are great options for beginner readers and their amusing, comedic themes are sure to keep your young child entertained during story time. While it doesn’t dive as deep into the nuances of the main characters like many of the other books in the series, I’m a Frog is still a great choice for an easy, fun read with your preschool or elementary age child.

Make sure to also look at the illustrations on the last page of the book! A fun feature of Willem’s Elephant & Piggie series is his inclusion of his other popular Pigeon character within his illustrations on the final page. Readers will love seeing that it’s not just Gerald and Piggie who are good at pretending!
